JAIPUR: Privatisation of Jaipur airport was postponed again until March due to this pandemic.
According to airport sources, construction of this new construction had got stuck due to the lockdown.
Previously, it had been determined that six airports such as Jaipur have been passed over to Adani Group on PPP mode. But, Jaipur airport has been yet to obtain any acceptance in this respect in the Centre. “All of the work regarding the privatisation of Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram airports remains pending,” said a senior officer.
Police asserted that Adani Group needed to cover an advantage transfer fee of $ 1,000 crore for all these three airports. A senior airport official said the privatisation of all Jaipur airport was postponed. “The job of this new construction remains pending. Only bidding was completed because there wasn’t any Union cabinet approval on this.”
It could be remembered that in December 2018, that the Airports Authority of India had consented to privatise six airports in the nation — Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram. Then, the Adani group acquired a bid in February 2019 to bag the operations of six profit-making international airports in the country worked by AAI, namely Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram.
