JAIPUR: The Rajasthan HC has deferred the hearing on appeal to the passing sentence of Jaipur burst convicts until November last week taking into consideration the time necessary to translate the records.
The division bench of Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Prakash Gupta gave the interim arrangement throughout the hearing of the passing mention of four convicts and the appeal against the acquittal of Shahbaz from the state authorities.
The petition stated that independent appeal petition needed to be submitted by the four passing convicts from the instance which requires translation to English of approximately 21,000 pages of files that is time consuming. It was prayed as per the Supreme Court instructions, all records about the situation be translated to English. Holding the prosecution, the large court deferred the hearing of this case to November a week.
Before on May 18, the court had directed the guides of their convicts to put forward their arguments in writing.
About September 20 a year ago, the exceptional NIA court convicted Mohamad Salman, Mohammad Saif, Saifur Rehman and Mohammad Sarwar to departure sentence at the May 13, 2008 serial blasts at Jaipur. One accused Shahbaz was acquitted in the case.
