JAIPUR: Three members of some group involved ATM thefts, that had stolen cash from several areas in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, were detained from Chittorgarh on Saturday.
They’d targeted areas like Jaipur, Udaipur, Kanpur and Lucknow among other people.
The accused include a girl and Rs 36 lakh were seized in their own accounts. They’ve been recognized as Manmohan, Harish Chand and his spouse Maneka Ketwa.
“We’d received a complaint that the gang had been hacking ATMs and carrying out the cash. We began a hunt following a complainant stated that roughly Rs 5 lakh was pulled from his accounts. We expanded our reach of investigation and discovered that similar events had happened elsewhere too,” said an official from Chittorgarh authorities.
In accordance with the officers, the accused chose the ATM cards of the acquaintances and utilized them to hack on the systems.
“They’d use one ATM card in a device and use it for hacking. In the event the money wasn’t dispensed, they’d file a complaint with the lender that though they’d given the right pin, the cash wasn’t removed but they had it imputed from the accounts after the banks could repay it”, said an official.
