JAIPUR: Considering the increasing Covid positive instances in condition, the state election commission (SEC) has decreased the amount of Republicans to become polling in every channel to 700 from 1400 to ensure social distancing could be kept during the elections into the 129 Nagar Palikas, scheduled to be held in August.
Thus, around 7,400 polling stations are set up to the elections to the municipal bodies. In the past general elections to those 129 municipal bodies, 4,294 polling stations have been created.
About 41. 41 lakh voters will take part in the electoral procedure. Of the total, 21. 31 lakh are men and 20.9 lakh are women and 84 belong to the next sex. There are a total of 4,450 wards from the 129 urban regional bodies.
The health department will submit Covid status report around August 7 into the SEC within a few days. The Congress party and neighborhood self-government departments have urged the commission to postpone the surveys looking at the climbing Covid cases.
The BJP, however, stated it was prepared to take part in the electoral process if the government was ready to run it. The state election commissioner P S Mehra had cited examples of nations that ran surveys amidst the outbreak.
