JAISALMER: A BSF constable, who’d come to take part in a weight loss workshop in STC of BSF at Jodhpur, failed while taking a walk Saturday. He had been carried to the hospital in which he was declared brought dead.
BSF DG S S Deshwal is conducting a campaign for weight loss at different training centers, wherein different workshops and programmes have been organised, which are being attended by obese BSF jawans and officers set in the borders. The episode is supposed to be a drawback to the effort.

BSF senior officer, verifying that the incident, stated constable Vinod Singh (45) of 114th battalion at Khaujuwala region in Bikaner industry, a resident of Delhi, was participate at the workshop organised in Jodhpur to decrease weight. On Saturday, below the prescribed actions, he had been walking after covering over a kilometre, he fell and was instantly carried to the hospital, where he had been declared dead. It must be noted that Deshwal last month had issued an order, causing obese jawans and officers to decrease weight. In May, Deshwal had arrived to Shahgarh Bulj border region in Jaisalmer and walked 50kilometers to increase the morale of their jawans and officers set on responsibility amid the pandemic.
It’s stated that many officers couldn’t walk for extended and Deshwal didn’t enjoy this. Then he issued instructions concerning reducing weight of jawans. The initial phase was organised from June 8 to June 30 where 24 DIG commandants were chosen and were shipped into Tekanpur in Gwalior and three officers also participate in it. In the next stage, many DIG commandants were shipped to Tekanpur to decrease weight.
