JAIPUR: In yet another interesting twist into the political drama playing out in Rajasthan, BJP has packaged 20 of its 72 MLAs into Gujarat in 2 batches to fend off an alleged bidding by Congress into”stress” them into financing the Ashok Gehlot authorities in case of a trust .
Fourteen MLAs assessed to a hotel in Gandhinagar on Friday day while six others had been flown to Porbandar on Saturday day even as contradictory notions of a rift in the party and overtures by Congress inserted into the whispers.
Condition BJP president Satish Poonia denied that inner party politics had anything to do with the movement, but former CM Vasundhara Raje‘s meeting with defence ministry Rajnath Singh at Delhi fuelled speculation regarding something brewing inside the saffron party.
Resources maintained Raje whined to Singh roughly BJP MLAs being herded into hotels in a different state, stating it was done to malign her image. Three MLAs in Raje’s home turf Jhalawar refused to proceed until they got directions from the prior CM, sources said.
State party leader Poonia blamed Congress to its”rumour” which Raje was the motive for 20 MLAs being flown from Rajasthan since Friday evening. “Raje is a two-time CM and BJP’s national general secretary. Our party is united and there’s absolutely not any scope for any gaps with her. Congress is accepting Raje’s name, but will probably be let down since there’s not anything in it for them”
Poonia reported the choice to move out a few legislators was founded on data that Congress, that has corralled its MLAs at a Jaisalmer hotel, was allegedly using the authorities and other agencies to approach them. “They were beneath psychological trauma because of these efforts. If a number of them have gone someplace, they haven’t committed a crime”
The MLAs will stay in Gujarat until the eve of the particular assembly session in August 14, sources said.
Of those 20 MLAs that are currently in Gujarat, 10 signify ST chairs where the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP), a Congress ally, has significant sway. Between eight and six of those MLAs were approached by senior Congress functionaries, a source said.
TOI had reported earlier this week concerning the BTP enjoying with its bargaining chips to find some long-pending demands fulfilled, such as announcing August 9 as a country holiday to mark Earth Tribal Day, in return for supporting the Gehlot government at a potential trial of power.
