KOTA: A 14-year-old woman and her 13-year old cousin drowned in Ujjad river in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan while taking a bath, authorities said on Thursday.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon, and the bodies had been fished from the river during the night, they explained, adding that both understood how to swim.
The deceased were identified as Sunita, daughter of Ramlal Gurjar, along with her uncle, Laxmibai, daughter of Narayan (Ramlal’s brother), inhabitants of Barodiya village at the Asnawar police station area of Jhalawar, the authorities said.
As stated by the household members, both the women knew how to swim, and they had to bathe in the river every day.
They might have swum towards the deeper part of the river but neglected to make it back, the authorities said.
The bodies have been handed over to the relatives following autopsy on Thursday afternoon along with also a case of unnatural death lodged, ” a police officer said.
