HYDERABAD: A 15-moment heavy downpour inundated Secunderabad Cantonment place on Friday evening, causing huge traffic jams because of waterlogging on the principal streets at Saibaba Colony, Marri Ramireddy colony and Sitharampuram Colony.
Other primary roads at particular regions in Karkhana, Trimulgherry and Bowenpally also marginally overrun and commuters have confronted inconvenience. They criticised Cantonment Board officials’ apathy finished attending the improvement of the ruined streets and pothole filling, until the onset of monsoon.
Residents of abutting into some century-old Ramannakunta Lake in Bowenpally are in a panic, seeing overflowing of sewer water in the lake and inundating their homes, if heavy rains happened. “We’re confronting this problem during each rainy season and SCB police have turned blind to facelift the lake,” Chandra Reddy, a resident of Sitarampur Colony told TOI.
Meanwhile, the SCB health and sanitation wing officials have been closely monitoring water levels at Ramannakunta lake, Hastmathper lake and Tirimalagiri Lake, and taking precautionary steps, to prevent overflowing.
