HYDERABAD: Within a month, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) will get defence territory for dumping the garbage.
Presently the Cantonment Board is using an open space located on the assumption of a Mahatma Gandhi Community Hall, in Trimulgherry, for dumping the litter. There has been a very long standing impending requirement of shifting of the dumping yard, because it’s situated amid residential locations, and causing annoyance.
On Monday, president cantonment board (PCB) of Secunderabad, Brigadier Abhijit Chandra, together with SCB chief executive officer, B Ajith Reddy along with SCB sanitation wing officials, inspected defence land near Army’s Dairy Farm in Bownepally.
The SCB officials are pursuing the purchase of this defence territory of British-era dairy farm, which was vacated by the Army two decades back. Almost 300-acre defence property can be found in Dairy Farm in Bowenpally.
SCB sources told TOI, the PCB, Brigadier Abhijit Chandra ensured that”after the dairy farm property will be moved either to Defence Estates Office (DEO), Telangana Circle or’Neighborhood Military Authority‘ (LMA), a part of land will be allocated to the Cantonment Board, for utilizing it to ditching the garbage.
“Together with the assurance of PCB, a lengthy standing impending issue of defence property, which was continued for the previous five decades, will be solved,” based on some SCB sanitation wing officer. Sanitation wing is currently lifting almost 100 metric tons of garbage daily from military and civilian regions in the Cantonment.
