HYDERABAD: A 25-yearlong convention of Ganesha laddu auction in Hyderabad’s Balapur has been cancelled this year because of Covid-19 pandemic.
On Thursday, the members of Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi, announced the cancellation of laddu auction in light of the increasing quantity of Covid instances in Maheswaram mandal
The Ganesh Utsav Samithi also chose to limit the height of this Ganesha idol up to six-foot, this season.
It is a convention, that each season, the Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samithi used to run an open auction for 21kg weight laddu amid lakhs of devotees in the immersion afternoon. The Balapur laddu market is ongoing from 1994 and in 2019, the laddu brought Rs 17. 60 lakh from the auction held in the village. Afterwards, the Ganesh idol utilized to take in the massive procession and then Situated at Hussain Sagar Lake.
Meanwhile, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee president Balwanth Rao told TOI,”We’ve advocated the pandals organisers in twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad, to celebrate Ganesh festival by subsequent Covid-19 pandemic preventive steps during Navaratri rituals in Ganesha pandals. The committee hasn’t imposed limitations over the elevation of their Ganesha idols during which makes them”.
