Hubballi: The Union government has accepted the long-pending need of Hubballi resident to rename the Hubballi railroad channel after Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji.
Lalita T Hedaoo, undersecretary to the authorities of India, ministry of home affairs, has said in a letter addressed to the chief secretary to the authorities, sales division, Karnataka, the Union government has no objection to rename’Hubballi Railway Station’ as’Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway Station Hubballi’. She has known the correspondence of main minister BS Yediyurappa outdated November 22, 2019.
She’s included the copy of correspondence dated July 7, 2020 obtained by the ministry of science and technologies intimating the spelling of this brand new name in Devnagri and Roman broadcasts together with her letter, and it has asked the state authorities to issue necessary gazette telling spelling the new name consequently in Devnagri (Hindi), Roman (English) and in regional terminology. She has urged the state government to deliver a copy of the notification to eight governments concerned of the Union authorities for their own records.
The railroad station was renamed as Hubballi railroad station from Hubli in 2015. “Renaming the channel following the seer has been the long-pending need of North Karnataka individuals. People of all religions and castes in Karnataka, Maharashtra and other countries see the mutt here. Even Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Gyani Jail Singh along with other fantastic spirits have seen it. The battle to rename the channel was on because SWR headquarters has been accorded to Hubballi. We ask the state government to issue a gazette notification with no delay,” said Mahendra Singhi, former Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) member and former chairman of Shree Siddharoodha Math Trust Committee, Hubballi.

SWR general director Ajay Kumar Singh said,”The ministry of home affairs has signaled acceptance / no sympathy for the proposal offered by the government of Karnataka to the planned change of title. The name change is going to be finished shortly after the government of Karnataka formally issues a gazette for exactly the same.”
