67-year old expires in Meghalaya, 172 new cases | Guwahati News


SHILLONG: A 67-year old Covid-positive man expired at the Shillong Civil Hospital, carrying the amount of deaths as a result of viral disease in Meghalaya to 29.
Manager of health providers Dr Aman War reported that the deceased, who had been a resident of this Jhalupara area of town, had been suffering from hypertension and diabetes.
Even as 172 new positive cases were discovered from the state Tuesday, taking the entire number of active instances to 1,818, a total of 39 patients recovered from the disease, taking the entire amount of recoveries to two,190.
On the flip side, from the new cases discovered on Tuesday, 61 were workers of the Star Cements mill in East Jaintia Hills, 74 were from East Khasi Hills, 23 in Ri-Bhoi, 2 from South West Garo Hills, nine in West Garo Hills, and one each from North Garo Hills, South Garo hills and West Jaintia Hills districts.
The Star Cements mill was announced a containment zone,” War explained.
He added that from 39 recoveries on Tuesday, 10 were from East Khasi hills, 24 in West Garo Hills, three from East Jaintia hills, and one each from Ri-Bhoi and South Garo Hills districts.
The senior researcher stated ,17,518 trials are sent for testing up to now, from that 1,13,184 have tested negative and negative outcomes of 298 were awaited.
Meanwhile, the arbitrary re-tests for Covid-19 were completed at Raj Bhavan at Shillong on Tuesday, even as the swab samples of their secretary to the Senate, Pravin Bakshi, has been verified to be negative following the fourth and third re-tests during RT-PCR and CB-NAAT, Raj Bhavan officials stated.
