60k native landless households to find property in poll-bound Assam | Guwahati News


GUWAHATI: Living up to its 2016 election consented to shield jati, mati, behti (identity, property and homeland) Assam authorities will disperse land pattas (land allotment) into 60 million native landless households of the country on October 5.
This was decided at a meeting of earnings section chaired by main minister Sarbananda Sonowal here on Monday where he explained,”strengthening the property rights of native people of this country is a prime goal of this authorities.”
Saying that state authorities was devoting topmost priority to offer property pattas to landless men and women, Sonowal led that the Revenue Department to take actions for between the ministers and MPs in-charge of various districts from the territory patta distribution programmes to be held in most districts.
He explained,”The state government has invented Property Policy 2019 after the recommendation of Hari Shankar Brahma Committee on Protection of Land Rights of Indigenous Individuals while taking measures for freeing encroachments from satra lands”
The committee in its report has said,”…protecting the property rights of the indigenous people of Assam that actually is associated with protecting the identity of these colourful pristine individuals of this land most of us reside in.”
It adds,”However, undoubtedly the most serious dangers to the safety of this property rights and the identity of the indigenous people of Assam has come in the ongoing legislation of Bengali Muslim peasants into mainland Assam in the neighboring districts of pre-independent Assam/erstwhile East Pakistan and now Bangladesh.”
The ministry announced that the state authorities would take steps for supplying land pattas to over 1 lakh indigenous families in this year.
One of the decisions taken at the assembly, small tea drinkers could be supplied land pattas ceremonially in a programme in Jorhat while the coverage could be finalized shortly to rehabilitate the people left homeless by erosion and flood from the country.
