Goa: Mapusa retailers seek restart of Friday marketplace | Goa News


SALIGAO: The Mapusa Merchants’ Association has advocated that the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) to resume the weekly Friday economy by ensuring social distancing standards and suitable sanitisation of the marketplace.
A meeting of the MMC town vending committee was held on Tuesday, which had been attended with the municipality‘s primary officer Kabir Shirgaonkar and retailers’ association president Ashish Shirodkar.
It had been proposed that sellers including from the 2014 listing ought to be given with a license following a proper survey is performed, and they may also be provided with identification certificates or cards.
The principal officer consented to Shirodkar’s proposal that sellers in the fish or vegetable markets that do not have a permanent location rented them out should be regarded as sellers, and guaranteed to find legal opinion on the situation.
