PANAJI: A jewelry store owner was allegedly stabbed to death in broad daylight by two men during a robbery attempt in his shop at Margao town of South Goa on Wednesday, authorities said. Swapnil Walke was assaulted by 2 motorcycle-borne assailants who supposedly entered his store in the afternoon and threatened him knife-point, a senior official said.
When the victim resisted their effort, the duo stabbed him several times before visiting the scene,” he explained.
Walke was admitted to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the official stated.
The video of this incident surfaced on interpersonal networking, in which the attackers, among those wearing helmet, could be observed stabbing the victim in public since he held on to them.
The incident sent shock waves at the country, together with chief minister Pramod Sawant expressing his sympathies for the victim’s household.
“Shocked by the tragic incident at the jewelry socket in Margao today. I’ve talked to DGP and SP South Goa, also asked them to research the incident and arrest the offenders at the oldest. We’ll guarantee that continuing action is taken along with the guilty are brought to justice,” Sawant tweeted.
