PANAJI: The Congress party on Thursday slammed the Centre for raising gas costs, stating that the move could affect poor people and have an inflationary effect. The Congress party intends to organise a demonstration on Monday at Mapusa, north Goa and Margao, South Goa to oppose the gas cost hikes.
“In the past six decades, 18 lakh crore was collected as taxation on gasoline,” said state Congress president Girish Chodankar. “Diesel has touched the amount of gas, and so it demonstrates the BJP government is following the frequent man.”
The celebration will also hold a quiet support match in the Martyr’s memorial at Azad Maidan in honor of their fallen soldiers of those Indian Army who lost their lives in the hands of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The Congress party’s social networking group will run a social networking effort #SpeakUpForMartyrs in aid of the armed forces.
