COIMBATORE: Everything might have only stayed as a little debate between authorities and a few turned violent after cops in Coimbatore began beating up the couple’s small son.
The episode happened when Velmayil, 47, of Rathinapuri and his wife started their tiffin center till 9pm on June 17. Their tiffin stall was at Shastri Street. Sub-inspector (SI) Chellamani, that had been on patrol, instructed the few to close their store as 8 pm was that the curfew.
The few nonetheless tried to describe to the officials they paid Rs 10,000 as leasing and needed to create some company to meet their expenses.
Their 15-year old son had shot videos of this episode that was detected by the authorities. The official captured the telephone.
In retaliation for this action by law enforcement, the boy grabbed the police officer bicycle key. Irked on the boy’s action, Chellamani began attacking the boy.
People gathered around and observed the episode. 1 individual in the audience shot the attack on his movie and it had been shared broadly on WhatsApp on Monday. Chellamani jeopardized the boy’s parents stating that the small would be sent to jail because of his behaviour.
Afterwards, the boy had been brought to the police station.
A police source said,”We checked with his college teachers and verified he was studying in Class X. We have not registered a case from the small. He didn’t permit the police officer to discharge his obligation. But a case was filed against Velmayil under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.”
Child activists asserted that when a little boy was included in a battle with the legislation, he must be treated carefully by the officers. Police can’t attack a minor nor will he be taken into a police station. They ought to notify Childline officials, who deal with children in conflict with law.
