Coimbatore: A 29-year-old guy that married a 20-year old girl on September 6, committed suicide by hanging after his wife abandoned him three times after their marriage. The relatives of the deceased blocked the street facing the collectorate on Wednesday night, seeking action against the parents of this girl for abetting the suicide.
The deceased has been identified as N Govindaraj of Perumal Kovil Street in Sennanur on town outskirts. He had been a welder.
Govindaraj had fallen in love with his neighbor B Manjula Devi six months back and chose to marry his mum Kanchana, 46, spouse of Narayanasamy, stated in her complaint to the Perur authorities. “However, Devi’s parents were against the union. However he wed her with the support of his buddies in a temple in Sundakkamuthur on September 6. Although the couple had our blessings, Devi’s dad Balasubramanian, mommy Rajeswari and grandma Sasikala battled on September 7,” she explained.
Kanchana lodged a complaint with the Perur all girls police over the household dispute and authorities encouraged both the households to the channel for question on Tuesday. Throughout the question, Devi told authorities she wished to proceed with her own parents. She removed her golden decorations such as mangalsutra and handed them to Govindaraj.
“Balasubramanian verbally abused my son Tuesday night. He had been depressed and committed suicide Wednesday around 4. 30am. Manjula’s parents and grandma are liable for his departure,” the complaint said.
Police registered a case under Section 174 CrPC (unnatural death).
Postmortem was completed in the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. But, Govindaraj’s parents refused to get the body and combined with their loved ones, sat on the State Bank of India (SBI) Road, seeking action against the trio.
