Salem: Six MPs in the DMK and the Congress collectively passed a resolution on Thursday urging the state and central authorities to fall the eight-lane street job in the interest of farmers.
The resolution was passed following the MPs met farmers in Kullampatty village nearby Ayothiyapattinam from the district at the afternoon.
The MPs that have been part of their settlement are S T Parthiban (Salem-DMK), Gouthama Sigamani (Kallakurichi-DMK), Dr Senthil Kumar (Dharmapuri-DMK), Dr A Chellakumar (Krishnagiri-Congress), Vishnu Prasath (Arani-Congress) and G Selvam (Kanchipuram-DMK).
Throughout the assembly, the farmers urged the MPs to talk regarding the green corridor expressway street job in Parliament.
Following the assembly, the MPs dealt with the press and stated they will explore the matter during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. “We will ask the central authorities to thinkof another route rather than damaging agricultural lands,” said S T Parthiban.
He explained that if the job proceeds on the planned website, farmers will instruct both the state and central authorities a lesson at the upcoming meeting election.
