Coimbatore man attempts to steal money out of ATM to purchase spirits, detained | Coimbatore News


COIMBATORE: The R S Puram (offense ) authorities in Coimbatore on Monday detained a 42-year old guy for trying to sneak cash in an ATM on July 3.
T Vijayakumar of R S Puram advised the authorities he was attempting to withdraw cash from the ATM with his debit card later realized that his accounts had no cash. The guy told the authorities he had attempted to steal cash to purchase liquor.
Authorities said the man had previously owned a gold smithery unit and had confronted a reduction in his enterprise. Observing this, he became an alcoholic and has been jobless.
On Friday night, as his wife refused to give him money to purchase alcohol, he stole debit card. He had been in an inebriated condition since he tried to draw cash from a Bank of India ATM.
He removed the screws of their ATM and tried to take a tray in which the money notes were saved. However, his campaign was ineffective. The following day, the men and women who seen the ATM realised something was wrong and advised the authorities who registered a case.
The authorities gathered the CCTV footage. A police team headed by K Nagaraj was able to follow Vijayakumar on Monday. The man had been remanded in judicial custody.
