COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Corporation was cracking down on stores, restaurants and other outlets which were not after Covid-19 prevention measures such as social distancing and sporting masks. According to Thursday, the civic body had levied a fine of Rs 72,900 on over 700 stores ) Even the west zone had the maximum number of stores breaking up the standards that are prescribed.
The civic body has deputed 242 staff members to track stores in most of the 100 wards. They team members were split into five groups –one accountable for every zone. The teams according to Thursday had discovered 281 stores in west not after avoidance measures such as ensuring all their employees and clients wearing mask constantly, not keeping a register recording the touch of individual entering the premises and maintaining sanitizers readily reachable.
Even though 139 stores in north zone were fined Rs 12,700, 218 stores were fined Rs 2,300, 67 stores in east zone were fined Rs ,900 and 56 stores in central regions were fined Rs 15,800.
