Sathankulam Case: CBI probe into Sathankulam custodial deaths; Centre issues telling | Chennai News


CHENNAI: The central government has issued a notification about the CBI carrying over investigations to the custodial deaths of a father-son duo — P Jeyaraj and J Beniks — in Sathankulam.
In a declaration, the Tamil Nadu government remembered the statement made by chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami regarding transferring the case to the fundamental bureau.
“In continuation to this, the ministry wrote a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah. Holding the petition of the CM, the Union government has issued a telling,” the announcement said.
After a petition from DGP J K Tripathy to move the instances from the Kovilpatti East police station into the CBI”to facilitate a free and fair evaluation,” the state authorities issued an order on June 29 moving the situation.
The Madras high court which took suo moto cognizance of those deaths purchased the CB-CID to stunt as proof may vanish by the time that the CBI takes over evaluation. The CB-CID is probing the situation today.
