Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu: PMK chief Ramadoss needs Rs 1crore insurance cover for each and every frontline employee | Chennai News

CHENNAI: A day after the Tamil Nadu government decreased the solatium sum for the kin of the deceased Covid-19 frontline employees, PMK leader S Ramadoss on Friday demanded that the country provide life insurance cover to the tune of Rs 1 crore for every single employee.
He said it was sad that the authorities decreased the solatium and encouraged the authorities to issue the cash as declared previously.
The authorities passed an arrangement, reducing the solatium from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. It was contradictory to main minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s statement on April 22.
About April 22, the government improved the solatium sum from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh for its frontline employees and government workers, who reacted to the virus whilst on duty. The ministry also said that a relative of the deceased could be given a government job according to eligibility.
