YAMUNANAGAR: The Haryana Police at Yamunanagar district Tuesday reserved a owner of a rice mill for allegedly embezzling custom-milled rice (CMR) worth about Rs 8. 13 crore.
Anil Rawat, district manager (DM), HAFED (Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited) lodged a complaint in Chhachhrauli police station on Tuesday, alleging that Dinesh Kumar, proprietor of Shree Ram Agro Foods, located in Fatehgarh village of Yamunanagar district has been allotted 42,490. 12 quintal paddy for grinding through the 2019-20 season.
Anil said that Dinesh needed to come back 28,468. 38 quintal rice to Food Corporation of India (FCI) around April 30, 2020 however he failed to achieve that. He explained after the date has been extended around July 15, 2020, however he returned ,796. 68 quintal rice just.
“A committee was formed and physical verification has been conducted on June 25, 2020, and it had been revealed that the proprietor of Shree Ram Agro Foods embezzled CMR worth $ 8,13,95,797. In addition, it was also revealed that the owner of the mill didn’t return 29,449 jute bags and 662 wooden crates into the HAFED,” further said the complainant Anil Rawat.
On the criticism of Anil Rawat, an instance was registered under Sections 407 (criminal breach of trust from provider ) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Chhachhrauli police station on Tuesday.
The Yamunanagar authorities officers advised that they have initiated an investigation into this situation.
