Bharati Rajya Laxmi Devi

BHUBANESWAR: Rajmata of Mayurbhanj, Bharati Rajya Laxmi Devi, passed away on Sunday at the time of 94 in The Belgadia Palace at Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.
She was born on February 8, 1927, to King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah and queen Kanti in the Narayanhiti Royal Palace, Kathmandu in Nepal.
Rajmata, previously princess Adhirajkumari of this realm of Nepal, was educated privately and afterwards married Maharaja Sri Pradeep Chandra Bhanja Deo, Maharaja of Mayurbhanj, on February 8, 1952.
Rajya Laxmi is succeeded by her four kids and their following children and grandchildren. She has three brothers and one son, present head of Bhanj dynasty Maharaja Praveen Chandra Bhanjdeo.
She was a philanthropist and powerful advocate for women’s empowerment and education. Odisha BJP leaders, Union petroleum ministry Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda condoled the passing of this Rajamata.
