Karnataka Union, 2 JD-S MLAs test positive for Covid-19 | Bengaluru News


BENGALURU: Karnataka ministry of collaboration ST Somashekar and 2 Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) legislators — GT Devegowda and Naganagouda Kandkur tested positive for coronavirus and are under treatment, an official said on Thursday.
“Though Somashekar tested positive for Covid-19, he’s asymptomatic and quarantined at home in the city. His office was sealed after his own assistant also tested positive for the virus,” the division official told IANS here.
Somashekar, that defected from the opposition Congress and joined the ruling BJP in November, obtained re-elected in the Yeshwantpur meeting in the town’s northern suburb through the December 5 bypolls.
Devegowda, a legislator out of Chamundeshwari assembly chair in Mysuru district, took a Covid test and the result came out to become favorable.
“Since Devegowda is asymptomatic, he’s been dwelling quarantined in Mysuru,” that a JD-S officer stated.
Mysuru is roughly 150km south of Bengaluru from the southern country.
Kandkur, a lawmaker from Gurmatkal assembly chair in the country’s northern region, was admitted into the state-run hospital at Yadgir together with his brother Mallikarjun Reddy as equally tested positive for Covid-19.
“Though both brothers are asymptomatic, they are under treatment in the district hospital at Yadgir,” Kandkur’s son Sharanagouda told IANS on telephone.
Yadgir is roughly 500km north of Bengaluru from the country.
Meanwhile, the status of main minister BS Yediyurappa and resistance Congress leader Siddaramaiah is secure in a private hospital at the town’s eastern suburb.
“Chief Minister Yediyurappa and Siddaramaiah are reacting well to the treatment. Their key parameters are within normal limits and they’re feeling comfortable,” an official of Manipal hospital said in a statement .
